H Is For Health~ All About Me From A to Z ~ Blogging From A to Z April Challenge 2024

One day I decided to check all my patient portals to see how many health conditions I had been diagnosed with. The total was 54. Now most of these things are not life threatening, but with this many it makes almost everyday a struggle.

One of the conditions that affects my life is vasovagal near-syncope. This is when your heart rate and blood pressure drop all of a sudden. It was picked up during a Tilt Table Test. There are triggers, but even the specialist isn’t sure what all mine are. We have sort of figured out that it happens when I get overheated or when I stand too long. But there have been times that both these triggers were not the cause. Near-syncope means I haven’t actually ever passed out, but I sure do come close! What I have to do when having an episode is to get into a lying down position and stay until it has passed. There have been times I have had to lie down on the floor at a store. It’s scary when it happens and often make me fear going out.

On a brighter note, I don’t have sleep apnea anymore. My sleep doctor thinks its because of some weight loss, but she told me usually those with sleep apnea can either get better or worse. It barely ever goes completely away. But mine did!

  1. I remember at high school, standing out in the sun at the open air assembly, I would see stars and then pass out. It happened several times and was quite embarrassing. It hasn’t happened since then fortunately. It must be difficult when it happens in a store unless you are in the bedding department!

    • So far it never happened in a bedding department, but that would be good. Because my blood pressure drops I was told to either get down on the floor on my own terms or take the chance of going down hard. I often wonder if I am on some online video somewhere….lol
